This is a similar format to the WRC, (world Rally Championship), which is conducted by the FIA. The MRA started this format of rallying in Sri Lanka and most credit should go to them. At present they organize three rounds Palwatte, Sevanagala and Kukuleganga, finally worked out to a championship on their own.
This year the Sevanagala and Kukuleganga Special Stage Rallies were organized by them and the final Leg of Sevanagala was organized by CMSC and MRA jointly to take this format of Rallying to a higher standard in 2010.
TSD – this is called as a time, Speed and Distance Rally, One time this was the most popular form of racing in the country. With Reliability trails (Organized by SLMCC) and Monsoon Rally was the popular names used for it, subsequently it was named as the SLARDAR 1000 (Organized by SLARDAR) and the Lotus Rally (Organized by CMSC) in the late 80’s. and is being continued still. TSD Rallies are the most Grilling Rallies, which is attest for Man and Machine.
Subsequently the southern Motor Sports Club went on to organize the Southern Rally, which was called the Southern Monsoon Rally in 2009.
