In the Year 1983 a new Motor Racing club was formed by some dedicated Racing drivers and riders and was named SRI LANKA ASSOCIATION OF RACING DRIVERS AND RIDERS and now commonly known as SLARDAR. Key officials of the inaugural committee were Mr. J. P. Obeysekera (Patron), Mr. Rodney Mason (President), Mr. Dayendra Samarasinghe and Mr. Lesley N. De Silva (V. Presidents), Mr. Ranjith Chandrasekera (Secretary), Mr. Yoga Perera (Asst. Secretary), Mr. Ravi Wijeratne (Treasurer) and rest of the committee comprised of Victor Wijeratne, Christopher Raymond, Mahes Gammampila, Ajantha Dinnamitra, Rohan Kulasiri, Ajith Botheju, Tissa Wimalasekera and Gerad Abeysena.
As the inaugural race meet SLARDAR organized Karandupone Hill Climb on 9th December 1984 in association with Lions Club of Kegalle.
Many acclaimed milestones have been passed by SLARDAR during the past 38 Years and organized and conducted several motor racing events all over Sri Lanka. Following Races were conducted and Several Tracks were designed and built by SLARDAR together with their valued partners Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lanka Navy . Following are the mile stones passed by SLARDAR during their illustrious past;
1984 – Revival of Karandupone Hill Climb after 30 Years with Lions Club of Kegalle
1985 – Radella Hill Climb – Conducted with Radella Club.
1986 – 1st Ever Rally Cross in Sri Lanka held at Talduwa Kelani Valley Club.
1987 – Kandy Lake Circuit Motor Races
1987 – Inaugural SLARDAR 1000 Rally – First ever 3 day TSD Rally with a distance of 1000 Kms. conducted in Sri Lanka, Start / Finish Galle Face Green.
1993 – Inaugural Fox Hill Supercross – First ever Supercross Race meet in Sri Lanka conducted with Sri Lanka Military Academy at Diyatalawa.
2000 – Inaugural Gajaba Supercross – Conducted at Saliyapura, Anuradhapura with Gajaba Regiment of Sri Lanka Army.
2002 – Launch of first motor racing championship in Sri Lanka SLARDAR Championship.
2004 – Inaugural Gunner Supercross – Conducted at Minneriya with Artillery Regiment of Sri Lanka Army.
2006 – Inaugural Sigiriya Rally Cross – Conducted with Sri Lanka Air Force.
2008 – Inaugural Cavalry Supercross – Conducted at Pangolla, Kurunagala with Armed Corps of Sri Lanka Army.
2016 – Inaugural Commando Supercross – Conducted at Uva- Kudaoya with Commando Regiment of Sri Lanka Army.
2017 – Inaugural Colombo Supercross – Conducted at Welisara Navy compound with Sri Lanka Navy.
